Workplace Violence Prevention and De-Escalation Training

It’s no secret that organizations are facing unprecedented challenges when it comes to the safety of their team and visitors. While it can seem daunting, having a team of experts with a proven track record can bring peace of mind – and provide solutions.

Partnering in prevention.

Everyone deserves the right to feel safe at work. With new and emerging threats continuing to appear, staying on top of safety plans, policies and training is more critical than ever before.

Trust the SEC team.

We are here to help your organization create a customized plan that fits your culture, your budget, your people and your business goals.   Since 2013, SEC has brought high-level security assessments to organizations throughout the United States.  Trust the SEC team to bring our more than 100 years of combined security experience to your organization.

We also know that preventions costs far less than response.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor:

  • The average workplace violence court settlement is $500 thousand dollars.
  • 2 million workdays are lost annually due to workplace violence.
  • $330 billion dollars are lost in annual revenue due to workplace violence.

What your organization can do.

Workplace violence can impact your bottom line, but it can also create the following ripple effect:  lost productivity, lower employee retention, decreased morale and job satisfaction, property damage, lawsuit fees, damaged business reputation, business interruption and loss of customers.  Having a security game plan for the inevitable isn’t a nice to- it’s a need to.

While there is no way to prevent all workplace violence, there are several key priorities that organizations can do to increase employee preparedness and feelings of security:

  1. Make sure you have a workplace violence prevention program in place.  SEC can help you develop one or review your current program to ensure best practice.

  2. Establish an emergency response plan.   At SEC, our team can provide you with a digital or a full-service emergency response plan, customized to each location’s physical structure and environment.

  3. Provide safe trainings to all employees on how to respond to incidents.  While most of us go immediately to active shooter training for businesses, the likelihood of this emergency happening is minimal.  Be sure to include training that is multi-hazard and will prepare employees for any crisis or emergency that may arise.  SEC believes the most important aspect of your entire safety and security program is training. When employees are prepared to respond to an incident, there is a much higher chance of controlling damage to people, property, and interests. Training empowers individuals to confidently perform when an incident occurs and, ultimately, contribute to the success of the overall response.

  4. Communicate with employees about what resources are available.  These should be communicated annually and through multiple channels within your organization, including leadership, HR, compliance and operations.  An organization that makes safety and security an everyday part of its culture will be prepared and ready to act when an emergency does occur.
