How SEC began.

Jason Russell, President and Founder, attended Western Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Michigan State University with a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Security Management.

 Jason began his law enforcement career with the Lansing Police Department and then had the opportunity to serve as Secret Service agent for a number of years.  During his time with the Secret Service, he spent time on the security detail for several presidents and other senior leaders.

 It was a few years after leaving the Secret Service, in that fated moment at Sandy Hook, when Jason’s life changed. With children the same ages as the victims, Jason recognized childcares and schools were often vulnerable targets. His background, focused on prevention and protection, led him to the creation of SEC in 2013.  

Jason and his team began working with thousands of childcares  and schools across the country to provide a comprehensive assessment of their safety and security needs and a lifelong partner in prevention.

 

Our mission drives our growth.

Since our inception in 2013, SEC has grown to serve thousands of organizations across the US, and in several other countries.  Our roots began in the childcare industry, having a passion for protecting children just like the President. 

As Jason has been called into multiple crisis situations and school shootings across the country, our work has pivoted to support K-12 schools, safeguarding students and teachers with actionable, layered security posture, from site assessments and in-person trainings to ongoing support, emergency response plans and social media monitoring.

Our mission continues to fuel our team’s work towards empowering protection for all.  Everyone deserves the right to feel safe and we are here to serve, partner and protect every organization we can.

Our experience is unparalleled.  SEC has worked with organizations large and small, public, and private, urban, and rural.  Our team understands the complexities each organization faces, and we adhere to a holistic approach when it comes to the safety and security of an organization and its most valuable assets-the people.  

Formally known as Secure Education Consultants, we are proud to now work with all environments and industries across the country.   Our work continues to evolve and expand, as organizations are facing unprecedented challenges when it comes to the safety of their team and visitors.  While it can seem daunting, having a team of experts with a proven track record can bring peace of mind – and provide solutions.  Trust the SEC team to bring our more than 100 years of combined security experience to your organization.
